Exclusive train trip on Saturday 13 May to mark 10th anniversary Three Rivers Comunity Rail Partnership


We are delighted to announce that on Saturday 13 May 2017 we will be running the Fawley Forester Rail Tour.

We are celebrating the 10th anniversary since the inception of the Three Rivers Comunity Rail Partnership and running the shuttles between Southampton and Fawley, to promote the possible re-opening of the railway to passengers.

The re-opening is planned to run passenger rail service from Southampton Central to Hythe and eventually through to the redeveloped Power Station at Fawley, known as Fawley Waterside.

The departure times are as follows:

Eastleigh depart 10.26am
Southampton Central (trip 1) depart 10.54am
Southampton Central (trip 2) depart 13.04pm
Southampton Central (trip 3) depart 15.15pm

Young Archaeologists' Club use Romsey Station to recreate World War Two life

Fawley branch line excursion date announced

As part of the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Three Rivers Community Rail Partnership we are sponsoring a special rail excursion along the Waterside railway on Saturday 13 May 2017. Not only will it mark our landmark anniversary but it will help to promote the proposed reopening of the line to passengers arising from new developments in the area. Swaythling Nature Walks - Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 April

Starting from Swaythling Railway Station at 1100 each day, the route takes walkers past St Marys Church, along the Monks Brook and up onto the Meadow close to Junction 5 of the M27. Guided by local nature expert Bob, visitors are invited to enjoy these free tours to discover current flowers and plants in this wonderfully secluded area as well as any animals that may be around. An insight into the area's history is also provided, which will be of interest to many.

Romsey Station volunteers mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme

Walk to commemorate the Battle of the Somme Centenary

Southampton Old Cemetary Sunday 3rd July at 3pm Themed walk to commemorate the Battle of the Somme Centenary. West Quay volunteers clear up St Denys Station Car Park

Last Friday, volunteers from West Quay in Southampton and their parent company Hammersons in London helped the Three Rivers Community Rail Partnership clear up the St Denys Station car park off Osborne Road South.Armed with loppers, brooms, spades, litter pickers and other equipment the volunteers filled nearly 20 bags of rubbish, pruned back the foliage, brushed the car park and sowed wildflower seeds

Woolston Station Garden update

Yesterday volunteers started work on the Signal Box community garden project. A three hour clear up resulted in the whole area being partially cleared ready for consideration of where raised beds could be placed for flowers, fruit and vegetables. Summer Sundays free rail bus link to explore the Test Valley returns!


Please find attached the information for this year’s FREE Rail bus link from Romsey Station through the Lower Test Valley area up to Stockbridge, Danebury Hill and the Museum of Army Flying.

Starting again this Sunday, 1 May, the bus will operate Sundays and Bank Holiday Monday’s through to 18 September and will be using the same timetable and operator as last year.

Railway volunteers raise over £340 for charity

In conjunction with Combat Stress charity the volunteers staffed a table in the World War One exhibition tent and held a raffle for teddy bears dressed in replica uniforms from the time. (The uniforms had been specially made by Romsey residents for this occasion.) In addition, wrist bands were sold, details of the proposed war memorial at Romsey Station displayed and a great deal of rail information was given out.

Our volunteers at Sholing have been busy starting a new train service at their local station. It doesn't go anywhere, but has become an instant hit with the passengers and passers by.

Not only does the Three Rivers Community Rail Partnership have sheep at Mottisfont and Dunbridge Station, but now we now have our own flower power train at Sholing!

St Denys Station clear up morning 25 January 2014


A special thank you to the 16 volunteers who turned up last Saturday morning to continue with improving St Denys Station in Southampton.

The station car park was cleared of more litter, overgrown vegetation and some graffiti by a mixture of residents, scouts and volunteers from other stations of the Three Rivers Community Rail Partnership.

Now the last day of the Romsey Rail Bus link services has passed it is great to report that this service providing bus and rail links to the Lower Test Valley tourism area has seen a 4.4% increase in passenger numbers. 734 individual passengers used this service this year which is a great boost to rail travel, bus travel and tourism in Test Valley.

Nature Walks from Swaythling Station


The next weekend of nature Walks from Swaythling Station is coming up on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 August 2013.

As before, walks start from Swaythling Station forecourt at 1100 each day and will take just under 2 hours to visit the beautiful medieval church at St Mary's South Stoneham before studying the flora and fauna along the Monks Brook and in the proposed Monks Brook meadow.
