Young Archaeologists' Club use Romsey Station to recreate World War Two life

Recently children dressed in world war 2 clothes were spotted around Romsey Station reenacting various scenes from the war including: aircraft recognition, selection of evacuees, singing songs, making rugs, rationing and air raid warnings.

The Young Archaeologists' Club really brought everyday wartime to life, to the delight of present day passengers. As well as being a great deal fun, this was a thoroughly informative educational experience.

Great Western Railways and The Three Rivers Community Rail Partnership were pleased to help out with the provision of the station as a historic base for such an event. Even one of our volunteers who lived near Salisbury Plain through the Second World War was able to answer questions about her own experiences, which the children found amazing!
