Railway station anniversary celebrations!

This is a reminder that the Three Rivers Community Rail Partnership is holding a couple of station anniversary celebration events in October and would welcome anyone to visit on the days or help with their organisation.

On Sunday 6 October between 1300 and 1600, we are holding an event at Swaythling Station to celebrate its 130th anniversary. As part of it we would like spare bulbs and plants to be brought along for our station gardens project. In the spirit of the Great British Bake off we would also like people to bring along a new cake or cakes created to reflect the history and character of Swaythling. Some light snacks will be available anyway on the day.

Any old photographs of the station would also be welcome if anyone wishes to bring them along.

There will be a children's entertainer, face painter, quizzes, local nature photographic displays, art competitions, bike doctors, travel information and much more. There is also talk of a bagpiper attending! Following other engagements, the Mayor will also be dropping in at around 1515 to lend his support to our work.

On Sunday 13 October between 1300 and 1600, we are holding an event at Chandlers Ford Station to celebrate its 10th anniversary since its reopening in 2003. Again, we would welcome any old photographs or stories about the station, which we could use for an exhibition at the station.

We would also like to have a new cake or cakes created and brought along to reflect the history and character of Chandlers Ford. Bakers please put your thinking caps on.

There will be quizzes, a bike doctor, raffle, travel information, an easy guided family bike ride of about 5 miles leaving at 1400, a face painter and much more. In addition, our award winning tea stall will be open for sampling!

So, please come along to see what's happening.
