Redbridge

Redbridge Station opened in 1847. From the mid-1920s until the 1980s there was a large railway engineering facility located here, manufacturing railway tracks, points and crossovers. It also produced creosoted wooden railway sleepers, using ‘Jarrah’ (Eucalyptus) timber imported from Western Australia.

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the station was also a key location for the movement of gunpowder manufactured in the New Forest.
